New Jersey Subcontractors Association

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

The New Jersey Subcontractors Association has proudly represented your interests throughout the State of New Jersey for more than 40 years.  During the past year your Board of Directors and Volunteer Leadership have decided that our organization and our member firms would be better served by focusing our resources here in New Jersey.  To that end, we have rescinded our affiliation with the American Subcontractors Association National Organization.  This initiative will save tens of thousands of dollars and will allow us to provide better, more focused, and more responsive service to our members.  It will allow us to concentrate our efforts on issues which impact your business here in your own backyard.

As part of this reorganization effort, we have also affiliated with the National Subcontractors Alliance and the Associated Specialty Contractors.  This new strategic alignment will allow us to provide important government advocacy in our Nation’s Capital, while again saving significant resources.  The New Jersey Subcontractors Association is affiliated with these organizations at NO CHARGE to you.

A3372-  This legislation requires prevailing wage to be paid on projects receiving any type of financial assistance or incentive from the Board of Public Utilities.  The bill has been signed by Governor Corzine and is now law.

A3569- The bill provides for the Department of Labor to enforce Stop Work Orders on contractors alleged to have violated workers compensation laws.  The bill was amended at the request of NJSA to provide that only the specific contractor alleged to be in violation would be covered by the Stop Work Order, rather than the entire project, as the bill was originally drafted.  This legislation has also been signed and is now law.
